Terrifier 3, a Christmas-themed gorefest that continues the murderous rampage of Art the Clown, was released in theaters on Friday, Oct. 11.
It’s currently number one at the box office, having raked in more than $30 million worldwide on a budget of just $2 million, according to data from Box Office Mojo.
The film holds a “certified fresh” score of 73 percent on the review site Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics consensus heralds the movie as “a bloody fantastic stocking stuffer for the holidays season.”
Among those starring in the film is Long Island actor, professional wrestler, and rock musician Chris Jericho, who was born in Manhasset.
Jericho, who described himself as a “big fan” of the first Terrifier movie in an interview with JoBlo Celebrity Interviews, plays Burke, an orderly in the Miles County Psychiatric Hospital.
The 53-year-old frontman for the heavy metal band Fozzy described the movie as "a bloody good time" on Instagram.
“In horror movies, the ‘rule’ is that the kids always make it,” he told JoBlo Celebrity Interviews. “Not in this one.”
For those on the fence about seeing it, Jericho said Terrifier 3 is not your typical killer clown movie.
“Trust me, this goes above and beyond anything you’ve ever seen before when it comes to horror movie violence.” he told the outlet. “It is batshit depraved crazy.”
Terrifier 3 was written and directed by Damien Leone and also stars Lauren LaVera, David Howard Thornton, Samantha Scaffidi, and Margaret Anne Florence.
The filmmakers notably did not submit for a rating from the Motion Picture Association, meaning it has no rating.
